Because most students take a break from classes in the summer, financial aid is awarded for the fall-spring academic year. Summer is considered an additional, optional term except for co-op students.
Co-op students awarded aid other than Federal Subsidized, Unsubsidized or PLUS Loans should alert Student Financial Aid of their co-op rotation. When accepting aid, this alert ensures maximum aid availability during in-class semesters.
Aid for summer is extremely limited. Students who know early on that they will be taking summer classes should speak with One Stop staff to determine their best use of aid. Knowing your annual aid limits, you may choose to reserve some funds for summer school by reducing your federal student loan borrowing during the academic year.
